Bantry Candles: Review

Anyone who knows me will know how much I love candles. I always have, ever since I started meditating as a teenager and my parents trusted me with matches and a few tealights in my bedroom! When B and I bought our first apartment together in 2005, the obsession really took over and I gathered candle after candle. In fact, last week, I panicked when I realised I only had five tealights left for my Himalayan Salt Oil Burner. I use all of my candles. They are made to be burnt and provide that beautiful, warm, comforting atmosphere that I love in my home. On my search to introduce you to dedicated and talented handmade crafters, I came across Bantry Candles. Bantry Candles are, in my opinion, one of the most well made and alluring handmade candle makers in Ireland. I had the pleasure of sampling one of their creations from the Christmas range which I wholeheartedly recommend to you.

Bantry Candles

Bantry Candles are based in Co. Cork. They lovingly make soy candles with an attention to detail which is second to none. Soy is healthier to burn than the ordinary shop bought version and also vegan friendly. Everything about Bantry Candles says sophistication and beauty.

Presentation is often what draws me to a product and the look and feel of these candles most certainly encourages me to pick one up. The packaging is well thought out, designed and produced. Candles are presented in packaging with a gold ribbon surrounding a soft white box with delicate gold lettering. Each candle container and snuffer is wrapped in soft tissue paper to protect your purchase. Finally, the perfectly scented candle is nestled in a specially created and designed white ceramic container with a stone grey glaze inside. The candle I sampled is from the Christmas range and came with a snuffer (lid).

Now, of course,  when it comes to luxurious candles, the scent is the most important aspect and Bantry Candles do not disappoint. I sampled a candle from their Christmas range – Roasted Chestnuts, White Ginger, Cloves and Coffee. Everything about this scent joyously sings Christmas for me. I jumped straight into the Christmas Spirit once November bounced onto our calendars and this candle has spread the festive feeling and plunged the aromatic atmosphere through our sitting room.

The scent is gentle enough to not be overpowering but strong enough to travel through the house creating that Christmas feeling you desire. The strongest aspect of this Christmas candle are the beautiful coffee undertones. There is a sweet subtle earthy scent under the soft aroma which delivers the roasted chestnuts.

Priced at 21euro with free shipping within Ireland, for me, this is great value for the perfect Christmas scent. The candle is long lasting with the correct care. And happily, the ceramic container can be reused as a flower pot when the candle is finally burnt.

Bantry Candles

Bantry Candles, have a large range of seasonal scents available on their store. Locally, they are stocked in various Cork shops and regularly attend the Bantry Market.

On their website, they also give great advise on how to get the most our of your candle. Many of these tips, I wasn’t aware of so I’m delighted to have come across them. Candles from Bantry Candles are ones you will want to take the best care of, so that you get the most use out of that beautiful scent.

Amazingly, Bantry Candles donated 5euro of every large candle sold on their store throughout October to a young local Bantry girl, Oliwia, who is receiving treatment for Cancer. With their amazing generosity to help raise funds for this young girl and her family, they also spread the word about a GoFundMe campaign set up for Oliwia. I know that we can all recognise, as parents, the hardship this family is currently going through.
