Sunday Sit Down – Timeless Avenue

Sunday Sit Down Timeless Avenue Over Heaven's Hill Parenting Blog

Welcome to another week of Sunday Sit Down. You may remember, I also have my own Etsy Shop called Timeless Avenue which I’ll admit I have let slide since I started Blogging, after all, writing has always been my first love. Just like naming my blog, I had to come up with a name for my jewellery shop and, of course, my inspiration came from my past writings and used the name of one of my old poems. Timeless Avenue is a short poem about lost friends, how life takes over, and inevitably distance grows between friends. I hope you enjoy it.

~~~ Timeless Avenue ~~~
Time drifts by us on the everlasting plain
and I drift along without seeing you.
I follow my path speckled with rain
and think I have missed my chance of you.
But had I defied the watch on my wrist
I would have made time for a friend like you.
And had I remembered that time would persist
I should have made time for my friend, for you.
  1. What a beautiful poem! My friends mean so much to me so I make them a priority in my life but even then, it’s not always easy to find time for everyone as often as I’d like, with so much going on. Good friends are always worth it though and with true friends you can pick up after huge gaps in the friendship. Thanks for linking to #whatImWriting
  2. This poem could have been written about me too. Friendships change as our life changes but real friends understand this.
    Lovely words.
  3. This poem really resonates with me. My best friends are genuinely scattered to the four corners of the earth at the moment, and it can be so hard to find the time to keep up with them! I’m really trying to make an effort to turn that around at the moment though – and in fact last night had a two hour FaceTime catch-up with an old friend I haven’t seen for three years. It was fab 🙂 xx
