Motherhood The Greatest Challenge With The Greatest Reward

Motherhood The Greatest Challenge With The Greatest Reward

In light of the recent articles and discussions I’ve been having about motherhood, I worry that the point has been missed. There can be a lot of negativity floating through the parenting atmosphere and I most certainly don’t want to come across as a ranting, begrudging, regretful mother because that could not be further from the truth.

#RelationshipGoals

#RelationshipGoals

Myself and B have been told on a few separate occasions on Twitter that we are #RelationshipGoals which is a pretty damn nice thing to see and hear. Basically, some people out there seem to see us as having a relationship that others should aspire too. I guess we come across quite well on Twitter but more often than not, one or both of us will respond to the tweet by bringing that kudos down a peg or two. We effectively deliberately knock oursleves off that pedestal. We tend to try to reiterate the point that we’re human and have our ups and downs like anybody else. And while this is true, it sort of got me thinking about our relationship and you know what I thought? Well, damn, yes, we are #RelationshipGoals but for one reason and one reason only…

In Conversation With: Mother in the House

In Conversation With: Mother in the House

I am so thrilled to have Helen aka Mother in the House aka Mum aka Doc as my last In Conversation With before Little Bean joins us. I’ve decided to give the series a break while we adjust to being a family of four on the off-chance that I miss a scheduled date with some of my amazing blogger contributors to the series. I thoroughly enjoy blogging and I want to keep up the momentum with Over Heaven’s Hill as much as I can while we go through this massive change with our little family but I’ve decided not to tie myself down with scheduled posts. The blog will be a lot more ad-hoc over the summer months. But In Conversation With will be back in September! So, I’m absolutely chuffed to have Helen as my last blogger in the current series. Helen is a fab blogger, an awesome doctor and an incredible Mum. She has a brilliant sense of humour and I love, love, love her answer to the question, “What is the best thing about being a parent?” All I’ll say is, spot on Helen, spot on! If I was wearing a hat, I’d raise it to you!

In Conversation With: Fab Working Mom Life

This week on In Conversation With, I had the pleasure of speaking with the beautiful Julie from Fab Working Mom Life. Julie is a working Mom, a blogger and a mother of one. I know exactly the daily grind Julie goes through as I’m a full time working Momma Bear also. It can be very difficult to keep the house and home going and ensure you’re not neglecting yourself, your partner and most importantly your children. But some how we manage it, and sometimes we need help. Julie’s blog is fantastic and I feel like I can relate to a lot that she says. Keeping our identity in parenthood is so important. Read on to see what Julie has to say on being a working mom.

The Daddy Tag Challenge

The Daddy Tag Challenge

Ahhh the Daddy Tag Challenge! I’ve yet to be nominated for the Mummy Tag Challenge – I’m clearly clamboring for a nomination here! – so I decided to jump on the bandwagon and nominate Papa Bear for #TheDaddyTag! A clever challenge issued by the very wonderful Frenchie Mummy. I was tempted to do as Frenchie said and make the answers up for B but he was very happy to oblige and take part. Check out his answers to the Daddy Tag Challenge. Of course I couldn’t help but add my own little tid-bit too!

In Conversation With: 2 Travelling Tots

This week I had the pleasure of talking to Laura and Mark, from 2 Travelling Tots, who are parents to little cuties Alfie and Charlie. To say that Laura and Mark are adventurous is putting it mildly. Having a passion for travelling, they are packing up their belongings and taking their two kids on a journey of a lifetime starting in January next year. What an amazing experience they are giving their kids. To learn about new cultures and to explore the heritage of different countries is a gift and a perfect family adventure. To say I’m jealous is an understatement. I admire their fearlessness and sense of adventure with travelling with two kids. It can’t be easy, but the memories and experiences will be priceless.

When Baby was Born: 3 Tips to Help Recover from a C Section

When Baby was Born: 3 Tips to Help Recover from a C Section

An Emergency C Section Birth Story – 3 Tips for Caesarean Sections. C Sections are long and complicated topics – this is the start of my story. Lately, my C Section scar has been giving me grief. It’s not so much sore as it is irritating. I’m blaming the awkward humidity we’ve been having lately but really I’ve no idea what’s causing the gentle numbing tingling. More often than not though I forget that the scar is there. It healed well and I remember my obstetrician saying that she was very pleased with the four inch straight line as I lay on the operating table.

I am so excited about this weeks In Conversation WithThis is Week 2 of the new series on Over Heavens Hill. I’m delighted to have the opportunity to talk to so many awesome parentsThis week I spoke with Mum Danielle aka Dannie Kitten who is a mother of two. If you’re a gamer you can check out her reviews here at DKPlaysGames. B is also an avid gamer, so I was interested to see what Danielle had to say about technology and kids.

BLITZ Morning – Commuting Mum Part 2

BLITZ Morning – Commuting Mum Part 2

Yesterday morning was one of our BLITZ mornings. Everything had to be done at hyper speed because we let the alarm clock go to snooze too many times. Ok so I’m in charge of the alarm clock and the BLITZ was entirely my fault and I felt and looked the stress of it. On days like this I often think of the working mum I see on the bus on the way to work. Does she struggle on mornings like this too?

Gaining Perspective

Gaining Perspective

I had a post half written for today about how a week off with A, just me and her, ended up being a ‘so so’ week. Despite my excitement for having so much time off with her, the week was neither exciting nor very eventful. I was in the midst of complaining in my half written post about how my unplanned week could have been much better if I planned and organised some fun and memorable things for me and A to do together. This has been a rare solo few days for us as B was working all week and I feel as though I have in a way wasted the days. This morning, however, my thoughts for this post changed. I gained a little perspective.
